CIE‘s sintering waste heat utilization project of Baotou Steel successfully is connected into the electricity grid
At 6:30 of June 7, The sintering waste heat utilization project of new 2×500㎡ systems of Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. undertaken by CIE was successfully connected into the electricity grid.
Two sets of waste heat boilers (also referred as HRSG, which stands for heat recovery steam generator) and one set of 30MW (megawatt) steam turbine generator unit are equipped for the project, and the waste heat of the circular cooler is recovered for generating electricity. The project was commenced on Mar. 12 of 2013, during which CIE overcame the bad site weather conditions and many difficulties caused by the Owner’s putting off the sintering commissioning, 1# waste heat boiler and its steam turbine generator unit were successfully connected into electricity grid, and it was planned to eliminate defects after continuous 72 houroperation. CIE will devote itself continuously to complete the 2# waste heat steam production and project performance test work as soon as possible.
After the project is put into production, the annual electricity generation is predicted that will reach 93.6 million KWH.The annual external steam supply will be 413,400t, and 58,900t standard coal will be saved annually, which means 147,250t carbon dioxide emission will be reduced annually and this will significantly reduce the sinter production cost and bring substantial economic benefits and environmental benefits for Baotou Steel.
