Technology is the life of the engineering company, and scientific research platform is the cradle of the technology production.
With scientific research platform system at national, ministerial, provincial and corporate level, through continuous self-innovation and integrated research and development, CIE is raking up corporate core competitiveness and giving impetus to industrial technology progress.
National engineering research center of sintering and pelletizing equipment system: As the top-ranking research and development experiment and pilot test base, technical engineering industrialization base and application research base, the center boasts the strongest technical research and development strength in domestic sintering and pelletizing field with uniqueness and exclusiveness. Established in January 2011, and passed acceptance check in September 2014 and the first 5-year assessment in November 2016, CIE has established an integration of scientific research with production of expanding innovation, integration application, openness and cooperation and personnel training. With continuous creative ability, it will try its best to take the lead making our country better and stronger at sintering pellet field.
The national engineering laboratory of flue gas multi-pollutant control technology and equipment: Approved by NDRC (National Development and Reform Commission) in October 2016, organized and implemented by Ministry of Education, led by THU (Tsinghua University), the Laboratory has been established jointly by CIE as one of standing director units, in which CIE is responsible for “carbon-based materials and flue gas multi-pollutant control technology and equipment” laboratory.
Post-doctoral Scientific Research Station of Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of PRC: CIE post-doctoral scientific research station was established in August 2010 by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of PRC. As a university and enterprise cooperation platform, the station has become a bridge not only introducing high-end technical talents, but also making cooperation agreements on post-doctoral education with institutions of higher learning including Central South University and Tsinghua University.
——Technology platform: Hunan provincial iron and steel sintering and pelletizing engineering technology research center, MCC sintering and pelletizing and direct reduction engineering technology center, CIE engineering technology research and development center.
——Test center: 7 specialty engineering laboratories have been established including mechanical engineering laboratory, thermal engineering laboratory, environmental engineering laboratory, automatic control and information laboratory, smart pipe gallery laboratory, simulation analysis laboratory and data mining laboratory.
——Demonstration base: Pilot Test Research Base of Activated Carbon Flue Gas Treatment Technology cooperating with Baosteel, Application and Demonstration Base of Cloud Platform for Advanced Equipment Manufacturing Simulation with the national super computation Changsha center of Hunan university, and Pelletizing Engineering Technology Research Base cooperating with Wusteel Ezhou Pelletizing Plant.
——Industry support: “Technology equipment pilot test and industrialization base”, “electrical engineering and automatically control technology industrialization base”, and “technology engineering industrialization base of energy conservation environment protection” have been established by CIE own.
II. Patents and Scientific Research Results
CIE is paying more attention to create, use, protect and manage independent intelligent property right with over 35% of annual growth rate of patent application and over 55% of annual authorized amount of invention patents. It was awarded as “the 17th China patent gold medal” in 2015, and “the 18 China patent excellent medal” and “the 19 China patent excellent medal” in 2016 and 2017 respectively. It is the second batch of national enterprise and public institution intellectual property demonstration establishment unit, the first patent exchange workstation confirmed by SIPO (state intellectual property office), demonstration enterprise of Hunan province intellectual property cultivation project, advance unit of national engineering construction standardization, national new high-tech enterprise, and China MCC excellent innovative enterprise.
—— Total application patents have exceeded 1400, of which invention patents account for more than 55%, and the authorized patents have exceeded over 800, of which the invention patents account for more than 52%.

With strong scientific research and development force, CIE has undertaken many significant national-level scientific research projects, and it has successively developed many scientific and technological achievements at international advanced level, which have been widely applied in project construction based on devoting itself to research and development of "environmentally friendly, energy saving and high efficient" new processes, new technologies and new equipment.

CIE has built a scientific and technological industrial base integrated with technology product development, test and manufacturing in national high-tech development zone of Lugu in Changsha covering an area of 220 mu and a building area of 30000 m².

Hunan Zhongye Changtian Heavy Industrial Technology Development Co., Ltd. has been registered and established in the base, undertaking the research and development and pilot test of technical equipment and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements of the center to be a high-tech enterprise for manufacturing sets of key equipment of important metallurgical equipment and environmental equipment.
