Recently, CIE won the bid for EP of Sintering Flue Gas Desulfurization Project of Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant under Novolipetsk Steel OJSC (hereinafter referred to as "NLMK"). This is another large-scale sintering flue gas desulfurization project won by CIE in Russian following the projects from EVRAZ ZSMK and Tula-Steel. It is a fruitful result of deep cultivation in the "Belt and Road" Initiative.

NLMK is the largest steel enterprise in Russia. This project is a key project of NLMK to modernize and upgrade its steel plant for environmental protection in response to the new law on environmental pollution control issued by the Russian federal government. Upon completion, the sintering flue gas desulfurization system will thoroughly solve the problems of sulfur content in sintering flue gas and excessive dust emission that have plagued NLMK for a long time, and further meet the high emission standards and requirements of the Russian federal government for environmental protection.
