CIE Won the Design Project of Tailings Pond with the Highest Altitude and Largest Storage Capacity in China
On February 22, CIE won the bid for the tailings pond design project of Julong Copper Mine Phase II Reconstruction and Expansion Project of Zijin Mining Tibet Julong Copper Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Tailings Pond Design Project of Tibet Julong Copper Phase II Project"), which is another large-scale tailings pond design project undertaken by CIE in the snow-covered plateau after winning the bid for the new tailings pond design project of Mengya'a Lead-Zinc Deposit Mining, Beneficiation, Reconstruction and Expansion Project in Lhari County, Tibet of Tibet Huaxia Mining Co., Ltd.
The Julong Copper Mine under Tibet Julong Copper Co., Ltd. has a copper resource of 10 million tons, which is the largest proven copper mine in China at present and located in Gyama Township, Maizhokunggar County, Tibet. The mining and beneficiation scale of Julong Copper Mine Phase I Project is 150,000 tons/day, and the new mining and beneficiation scale of Phase II Reconstruction and Expansion Project reaches 200,000 tons/day.
The tailings pond project of Tibet Julong Copper Phase II Project is designed to have a final dam crest elevation of 5,218 m, a total storage capacity of 1.057 billion m3 and a total dam height of 200 m. The design grade of the tailings pond is classified as a first-class pond, which is the tailings pond project with the highest altitude and largest storage capacity in China at present.
