The sintering technology and equipment of high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection has up to an international leading level.

It was on November 30, 2016 learned from “The scientific and technological achievements evaluation conference on high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection sintering technology and equipment” that the sintering technology and equipment of high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection jointly researched and developed and applied by CIE, Baoshan Iron & Steel Co. Ltd, Central South University and Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel RareEarth HiTech Co., Ltd. has realized a number of breakthroughs and innovations ranking an international leading level entirely.

With the advanced technology R&D and construction capability of sintering machine covering the whole series of less than 720 square meters for more than 60 years servicing China's steel industry, the accumulative engineering quantity and area of sintering machine designed and established by CIE have become the highest in the world. To address the common problems in our country related to sintering process including low produce efficiency, unstable product quality, high energy consumption, serious environmental pollution and low independent R&D skill of core equipment, cooperated with Baoshan Iron & Steel Co., Ltd., Central South University and Inner Mongolia Baotou Steel RareEarth HiTech Co., Ltd., CIE has formed a full set of sintering technology equipment system and technical standard system on effective energy saving and environment protection with the combination of process control and end treatment from the fundamental research to the technology development of craft, equipment and environmental protection.

With a number of technical innovation and breakthrough, the project has exploited a series of thicklayer efficient sintering technology and equipment including the method of regulating and controlling mixture material granulation and mineralization, technology and equipment of exploiting and improving material layer permeability and intensifying the generation of high quality calcium ferrite at low temperature, flexible transmission device, ultrawide trolley, etc.; it has invented flexible sealing sintering machine of negative pressure adsorption, sealing technology and equipment of annual cooler fluid at first time, realized cooling thick ore deposit, improved the quality of the waste heat gas and sinter, and developed a series of efficient fluid sealing ring cooler. It has exploited activated carbon flue gas purification technology and equipment, realized multipollutants collaborative governance of flue gas and comprehensive resource utilization of byproducts. It has exploited efficient utilization technology of thermal cycle for the whole process, and invented waste heat boiler of direct connection and bonnet type effectively improving the waste heat recovery efficiency. It has realized the whole process of automation control based on the efficient utilizations technology of the whole process of sintering related to thermal cycle. It also has realized the whole process of automation control based on the integrated control expert system for sintering process in accordance with the process and equipment requirements.

So far, the sintering technology and equipment system of high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection has been applied for more than 50 projects at home and abroad. Based on applying the sintering technology and equipment of high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection, the sintering process has a obvious effect on energy conservation and environmental protection, in which, the thickness of material has up to 900 mm, single scale up to 660 square meters, the lowest energy consumption in sintering process up to 44.07 kg of standard coal, the air leakage rate of sintering machine up to less than 20%, the air leakage rate of ring cooler is less than 10%, desulfurization rate more than 98%, denitrification rate up to 50%~80%, dust emission concentration less than 20 milligrams per cubic meter, and Dioxin emission concentration less than 0.35 nanogram per cubic meter.

Around with the sintering technology and equipment system of high efficiency and saving energy and environment protection, one monograph and one government standard have been formed, including 23 authorized invention patents, 3 patents for utility models and 1 software copyright.

In terms of Academician Yin Ruiyu, Director of CAE, Wang Tianyi, former Vice President of The Chinese Society for Metals, and Chief Engineer Han Guorui, Deputy Director of MCC, “The research & development and application of high efficiency and energy saving and environmental protection sintering technology and equipment” have up to an international leading level with obvious economic and social benefits and broad market prospect, which should be further popularized and applied.
