Developing Strategic Emerging Businesses | CIE Signs Series of New Energy Material Project Contracts with CNGR in Indonesia

On May 29, CIE signed a design contract for Phase II Laterite Nickel Ore Smelting High-Grade Ferronickel Project with PT.ZhongTsing New Energy, a subsidiary of CNGR Advanced Material Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CNGR). This follows previous collaborations on the raw material C (pyrometallurgical) technology renovation project at the CNGR Qinzhou Base and the nickel matte refining project at the North Morowali Industrial Base in Indonesia, marking another significant nickel smelting project under the cooperation between CIE and CNGR.

 

 

This project is one of CNGR's key initiatives in the new energy material resource sector, located in the Qingshan Industrial Park in Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It aims to produce high-grade nickel matte using local laterite nickel ore as raw material. Upon completion, the project will significantly enhance CNGR's self-sufficiency in nickel metal resources needed for ternary precursor production.

 

Building on the experience from the ZhongTsing Phase-I project, CIE will leverage its extensive expertise and long-standing advantages in metallurgical engineering technology to optimize and upgrade the technology for this project from all aspects. The implementation of this project will contribute to CNGR's "New Four Strategies" development and inject CIE's distinctive strengths into the new energy materials industry.

 

Since the beginning of this year, CIE has been focusing on the new energy materials business, leveraging its comprehensive engineering and technical service capabilities across the entire industrial chain in metal and non-metal resource development, mineral processing, metal smelting and intelligent equipment, and "three wastes" treatment. The company has made significant progress in various subfields, including energy metal and non-metal mining, selection, and smelting; as well as recycling of used batteries, synthesis of battery-grade compounds, precursor materials, and cathode and anode materials.

 

In January, CIE signed a contract for a demonstration project in Changzhou with a 50,000 t/a processing capacity for the efficient utilization of used lithium-ion batteries, using core technologies such as high-efficiency resource recycling of retired lithium batteries and high-value regeneration of phosphorus-iron slag. This project contributes to Changzhou's goal of becoming the 'Hub of New Energy'.

 

In March, the Company signed a contract for the efficient recycling and utilization of used LFP batteries with Zhejiang Shunhua Lithium Industry. Upon successful implementation, this project will become a model for the recycling of used LFP batteries in the key regions of the Yangtze River Delta, strongly supporting the healthy development of the new energy industry in the Yangtze River Delta and surrounding areas.

 

In April, with technical support from Shunhua Lithium Industry, CIE signed a contract for a low-carbon high-purity lithium carbonate plant and high-end lithium battery material R&D center project with Zhongyu Holdings in the Greater Bay Area, aiming to create a benchmark project with leading technical levels and high digitalization in Guangdong Province for the recycling of LFP batteries.

 

In May, CIE signed a contract for a demonstration project in Shanghai with a 10,000 t/a processing capacity for the efficient utilization of used lithium-ion batteries. This project employs core technologies such as high-efficiency resource recycling of retired ternary lithium batteries and zero emissions, marking CIE's entry into the battery recycling field in major cities with high standards, high requirements, and high-quality service advantages.
