CIE's technology for disposal of zinc-containing dust and mud with a new generation low-carbon and low-cost rotary kiln realized the engineering application in Shandong Iron and Steel Group Yongfeng Lingang Co., Ltd.

On the morning of March 23, the rotary kiln works for extracting iron and removing zinc of the Advanced Industrial Base Project (Phase-I) for High-quality Steel and Special-purpose Steel of Shandong Iron and Steel Group Yongfeng Lingang Co., Ltd. with CIEE of CIE as the General Contractor has achieved the successful hot-load test run, marking the formal realization of engineering application of the technology for disposal of zinc-containing dust and mud with a new generation low-carbon and low-cost rotary kiln independently developed by CIE with the characteristics of "intelligent, energy-conservation, environmentally-friendly, synergetic and stable".

 

 

A new production line for iron extraction and zinc reduction with rotary kilns with a processing capacity of 150 kt/a (500 t/day) is built for this project to process blast furnace bag dry ash, dust removal ash from steelmaking bulk material, machine head ash of sintering electric field, etc. The process of "strong mixing for pelletizing + rotary kiln reduction + waste heat utilization + surface cooling + zinc collection with bag" is adopted for this project. The treated ferrous kiln slag has low zinc content and can be returned to the sintering process for utilization, which can effectively reduce environmental pollution; its by-product secondary zinc oxide has direct economic value and can reuse resources to the maximum extent; compared with the rotary hearth furnace process, it has the advantages of less investment, low operating cost and strong adaptability to solid waste treatment. In addition, the exhaust gas discharged from this project is treated together with the sintering and pelletizing flue gas by the "integral deep purification technology of multi-process flue gas activated carbon method" patented by CIE, which can meet the national ultra-low emission standards.

 

This project is a key environmental protection project of Shandong Iron and Steel Group Yongfeng Lingang Co., Ltd. to promote the overall planning and construction of green and efficient development of the enterprises. After it is put into production, it will effectively solve problems related to the impact of harmful elements such as zinc, lead, potassium and sodium on the life of blast furnaces and the difficulty of resource recycling, and realize the goal of "Zero discharge of solid waste from the factory" and "turning waste into treasure".
