An important scientific and technological special project of energy conservation and emission reduction undertaken by CIE

On Mar 31, Hunan Provincial Science and Technology Department organized related experts to make a mid-term evaluation of an important special project. This important provincial special project of energy conservation and emissions reduction of 2008 “Research and development of energy conservation for sintering production of Iron and Steel plants and key technology and equipment for waste gas desulfurization and project demonstration” was mainly undertaken by Zhongye Changtian. The expert group agrees to pass the mid-term evaluation after hearing project report, site visit and oral debate.

The project of “Research and development of energy conservation for sintering production of Iron and Steel plants and key technology and equipment for waste gas desulfurization and project demonstration”  includes three sub-projects, that is, research on sintering energy conservation and waste gas circulation process and equipment,   research on technology and equipment of high efficient recovery and utilization of sintering waste (flue) gas, and research on technology and equipment of sintering waste gas desulfurization. The comprehensive promotion and application of the special technology can reduce the energy consumption of sintering process in iron and steel industry by 15%, and the removal rate of sulfur dioxide will be more than 90%.

Up to now, all mechanism and laboratory research have been completed and a part of auxiliary equipment has been developed for the subproject of “Research on flue gas circulation sintering process and equipment”. Demonstration project of “High efficient energy saving liquid seal circular cooler” has been built in Liansteel and Jisteel, many sales contracts have been signed and demonstration project will be built for “Sintering flue gas waste heat generation system”. A breakthrough has been made for “Research on technology and equipment of sintering flue gas desulphurization with AmmoniaAmmonium Sulfate Method”, and demonstration project of sintering flue gas desulphurization with AmmoniaAmmonium Sulfate method has been set up in Panchengsteel. The digital model of “sintering process energy management system” has been set up preliminarily.

In view of this special project, breakthrough has been made in 14 key technologies of flue gas circulation sintering, 69 patents have been applied, 7 papers have been published, and 21 doctors and master degree students have been trained.
