At 9:18 on July 26, the tape tunnel project of first bid section for Indonesia Taliabu iron ore project designed and supervised by CIE was completed smoothly.

The tape tunnel is located in Taliabu island of Maluku province which is in the northwest of Indonesia, there are two tape tunnels, No.1 tape tunnel and No.2 tape tunnel. The total length is 1735m, in which the length of No.1 tape tunnel is 1349m and the length of No.2 tape tunnel is 386m. These tunnels are is with small section, the inlet and outlet are located at the hills which are of slope soil mixed with float stones of difference size and strong weathered soft week rock strata, due to the loose structure and harsh environment, strict requirements were proposed for tunnel safety production.

Since the project commencement on September 18th of 2014, the blasting excavation, preliminary support of rock bolt shotcrete and permanent support of secondary lining by concrete cast etc. have been completed, no quality and safety accidents have occurred up to now, and the project has won high praise from the Owner and Indonesian local government.

The successful completion of the tape tunnel project for the first bid section creates conditions for long distance transportation system and commencement of other bid sections, indicating that the Indonesia Taliabu iron ore project has entered the construction stage in full swing.
